Perhaps as deep and concentrated a chardonnay as produced in Santa Barbara County. Quoting Robert Parker for the 2003 version, 'A brilliant effort possessing great acidity in addition to a Michael Niellon Chevalier-Montrachet-like perfume of crushed minerals, white flowers, peaches, honeysuckle, earth and wood. This dense full-bodied beauty sees 20 percent new oak. Terrific body and flavor penetration on the palate and long, crisp finish are the characteristics of this top-flight chardonnay. Consume it over the next 7 to 8 years.' This vintage may be a slightly slower starter than the 2003 but it has deep, deep concentration built around a stout mineral structure.
