The backbone of the wine weighs acidity and minerality, with subtle hints of lemon, lime, and quince, rounding a mouthfeel with pleasant viscousity, and a chalky slate almost nutty finish. A Tribute to Grace 2009 Grenache, Santa Barbara Highlands Vineyard, Santa Barbara County, California Wine, 375ml. Red raspberries and spice dominate the nose, palate and finish. Crisp, tart, acidic, allspice and cloves. This 2009 Grenache, with tastes of tart allspice and cloves, has a good mouthfeel, smooth and elegant, not heavy or overdone. Winemaking: 50% was fermented whole cluster, which was tread by foot twice a day. The remaining de-stemmed portion received what the winemaker has fondly term the ‘gracedance’. In observance of biodynamic principles, grace was racked under the first new moon of 2011.
