Bernat 2009 Estate Syrah, 'Gratitude', Santa Ynez Valley, California Wine, 750ml
The 2009 Estate Syrah is a dark and deep plum colored wine. The nose showcases exotic aromatics reminiscent of violets, cocoa powder, and hard spice, balanced with blue and black fruits. On the palate this wine is big, bold, and round with fresh cut leather, graphite, and gravelly earth intermingled with blueberry, plum, and boysenberry fruits. Muscular, with a powerful tannic structure throughout, this has the stuffing to go the long haul, and is a beautiful example of the soil-driven character found at the Bernat Estate.

Bernat 2009 Syrah, Colson Canyon, 'Presence', Santa Barbara County, California Wine, 750ml
The 2009 Colson Canyon Syrah exhibits an inky purple core moving to ruby red at the rim. Lifted aromatics of black cherry, brambleberry and macerated cherries are accented by notes of expresso and baking spices. Lively and powerful, this Syrah exhibits well-intergrated tannins and sneaky structure, with great precision and balance. Delicious now, this should evolve beautifully over the next 5 to 7 years.

Bernat 2010 Estate Nebbiolo, Santa Ynez Valley, California Wine, 750ml
Nebbiolo is one of our great passion projects. One of the world's most noble grapes, it is also one of the most challenging to grow and work with in the cellar: it has to hang out until almost Thanksgiving, its acid is through the roof, tannins are fierce, and it requires a long stay in barrel and bottle before release. But when it's finally ready to unfurl and show its stuff? Fuhgeddaboutit- this haunting, heady, obsession-inducing stuff. Our 2010 shows off the grape's classical notes of tar and roses, joined to a noticeable kiss of California sunshine and generosity of fruit. As always, this is incredibly well-structured, and works beautifully at a table. We wouldn't be surprised to see this age gracefully over the next two decades.

Bernat 2011 Estate Sangiovese, Santa Ynez Valley, California Wine, 750ml
The 2011 Estate Sangiovese is the result of another cool vintage in Santa Ynez Valley, though it's less apparent than the 2010, which had an equally cool growing season. The wine is judiciously plump, bold, and fruit dominate at its core. The nose is aromatically vibrant with notes of fresh cranberries and black cherries precipitating a modicum of dried clove, fresh cut leather, and baked clay. On the palate the 2011 Sangiovese is ripe and jammy with mulberry and plum fruit, leveled with leaner fruits of black currant, and black cherry. Supple, velvety tannins intermingle with polished acidity on the finish.

Bernat 2012 Grenache Blanc, Santa Ynez Valley, California Wine, 750ml
Our 2012 Grenache Blanc comes from Camp 4 Vineyard. Situated on the east end of Santa Ynez Valley, just outside of Happy Canyon, this site's Mediterranean climate and alluvial soil is a perfect match for the heat-loving Grenache Blanc. Opening with fruit-driven aromatics of Anjou pear, mandarin orange, and lime oil, with air it gains subtle nuances of Shiso leaf and wet rocks. While showcasing the grape's more unctous texture, it still delivers great cut, with deceptively well-integrated acidity.

Bernat 2014 Rose of Nebbiolo, Marmorstein Estate, Santa Ynez Valley, California Wine, 750ml
Nebbiolo has long been considered one of the most difficult wine grapes to cultivate, even in the region of Piemonte the grape is glaringly finicky about where it will grow and how well it will ripen. When The Marmorstein's first planted a half acre block in their Bernat Estate Vineyard they knew it would be a test of patience. The 2014 Nebbiolo never reached the pH and brix levels to produce the Nebbiolo expected from the past years' production so they decided to experiment with making it as a Rose - an experiment that turned out delicious! The 2014 Nebbiolo Rose still possesses traits commonly associated with Nebbiolo- tart acidity, body structure, and a long dry finish- while light, fresh, crisp and elegant. The nose is ample with floral qualities of violets and roses as well as freshly picked strawberries, cherries, and raspberries. While the palate poses vigorous notes of blood orange, sanguine minerality, and stone fruit.
