Star Lane 2007, Estate Red, Happy Canyon, California Wine, 750ml
The 2007 vintage gave us a lot to celebrate at Star Lane Vineyard. The vintage marks the 10th anniversary of the vineyard and it is our first vintage to be released following the designation of the new “Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara” appellation, which has been recognized for its potential to make exceptional Bordeaux varietals. In addition, the 2007 vintage provided ideal growing conditions. These conditions, combined with our increasing understanding of the unique characteristics of the site, have resulted in the most complete wine we have made from the vineyard.

Deep purple color. Piercingly pure aromas of dark plum, red fruits and black cherry, lightly infused with sweet herbs. Rich and concentrated on the attack, packed with juicy red fruits, sleek and polished. The finish is magical. Plenty of tannins, but of superb refinement, marvelously bracketing the terrific opulence of the vintage. Long and persistent.

Tablas Creek 2010 Mourvedre, Paso Robles, California Wine, (750 ml)
The 2010 Mourvèdre shows a nose of herb-rubbed roast, figs, balsamic and mint. The mouth is cool and minty, very fresh, with nice dark red currant fruit, fresh herbs, mineral and a hint of sweeter fruit coming out toward the end, all surrounded by chewy tannins. Drink it now and for the next decade.

balsamic, black tea and roasted meat aromas, given lift by a brighter raspberry note and notable minerality. The mouth is richer than the nose suggests, with plum, blueberry, pepper steak and dark chocolate notes. Well-mannered tannin keep order without blocking or weighing down the wine. This is an Esprit that will provide pleasure now, but which should also age gracefully for two decades.
